Here it is...

Alright, here it is. On my next picture, I'll spend more time, but I'm a bit out of time right now :)

Still Working

It's been a while since I've posted. I promise I am still working on the piece I talked about before. I just don't work on it very often. I'm excited about it, too. It'll be better than my others. I'm getting more comfortable with my paints. You know, I'd love to be able to paint for a living. First I'll need to take a painting class. That would probably help. I don't know basic technique. I will look into taking a painting class at the university. I don't think I'd completely switch my major to art, though.

I think I'm going to end this post before I ramble any more.

I'll post my next painting soon!

New Painting

I'm starting a new painting! I'm pretty excited about this one. I feel like I've improved, so hopefully this piece will reflect that. I'll post pictures when I finish.

Palette knives

After my first oil attempt, I decided I really wanted to try using palette knives. This painting was a big motivator. Well, my painting looks a lot different than it did in my head, but here it is.
I chose the ocean for my mom :) She loves the warmth and the water.

First Oil Attempt

Here it is! She has pretty small eyes and seems a little disproportional, but I'm not disappointed for my first try. Thank you, Neasha, for the oil paints and supplies. You rock! And I officially love painting.

This video helped me know what I was doing :) I might try a different way of doing it next time, though. We'll see.

And now that I see it on the computer, I realize more mistakes... oh well. I just need practice, right?

So I've Decided to Learn to Paint

I've always wanted to paint and I finally decided to learn. As far as I know, I have everything I need to get started. The next picture I post will probably be my first attempt at an oil painting :)

Head of an Apostle

In my art class, we were given a choice as to what we wanted to do our final presentation about.  Naturally, I chose etch a sketch art.  As part of my presentation, I drew Albrecht Durer's Head of an Apostle on the etch a sketch.  Not to brag or anything, but I think it turned out pretty good :)

I also figured out how to preserve the etch a sketch picture so it would not erase.  That was quite the process.  First I tried simply drilling holes in the back to drain the powder inside that makes it erase.  I just ended up with a big mess and a picture that would still erase.  Finally I found a method that included completely taking the etch a sketch apart, dumping the powder, washing it clean, and removing the wires that control then knobs.  So, after hours of work, I finally made my etch a sketch permanent.  The only problem is, now I have no idea what to do with it.
